Amy Poehler Has Been Crowned Hasty Pudding's Woman of the Year
LatestAmy Poehler—MY QUEEN—is starting 2015 with a bang. Following in the footsteps of Helen Mirren (her peer in both talent and grace), the comedian has been named Hasty Pudding’s Woman of the Year.
Hasty Pudding president Jason Hellerstein announced in a press statement that:
The Pudding is proud to honor a talented and hilarious actress whose brand of comedy fits so well with the Pudding’s own tradition of satire and social commentary.
Hasty Pudding, based at Harvard University, is the United States’ oldest theater organization (and the third oldest on all of planet earth). Each year, they honor one man (2015’s has yet to be announced) and one woman “who have made lasting and impressive contributions to the world of entertainment.” Past winners include Helen Mirren (as previously mentioned), Elizabeth Taylor, Anthony Hopkins and Christopher Walken.
Congratulations to the well-deserving Poehler who, lest we forget, will be hosting the Golden Globes alongside Tina Fey this Sunday, January 11.
(P.S. If you are wondering how many times I wrote “tasty pudding” instead of “hasty pudding” while composing this post, the answer is twice.)
