Apparently Penthouse Will Continue As a Print Magazine After All

Latest

Apologies to devotees of the dwindling nudie mag genre: It was a false alarm, and Penthouse will live on as a print publication. For now, anyway.

That’s what Penthouse Entertainment managing director Kelly Holland told USA Today (h/t Fishbowl New York). The apparent source of the confusion: A misinterpreted Penthouse press release, which was actually about the relaunch of the website Penthousemagazine.com. (It’ll feature daily blog posts and vintage archival photos, apparently.) “We are truly committed to the magazine,” Holland insisted, adding that, “There’s gravitas about the print page that you can’t replace.”

She went on to say:

“Can I promise we will be publishing print in five years? No, but as long as we can keep it profitable, we will carry it forward,” Holland said.
She declined to answer when asked if the magazine is profitable. “It’s challenging,” she said.

Clearly, with the media business gone so topsy-turvy that longtime Penthouse rival Playboy forgoes nudes.
