Ava DuVernay to Direct Film About Hurricane Katrina

Latest

In her continued effort to keep it 100% real, 100% percent of the time, Ava DuVernay’s next film will be about Hurricane Katrina.

Selma star David Oyelowo is in negotiations to star in and produce the film, which would mark the duo’s third collaboration. Via the Hollywood Reporter:

The Selma helmer is teaming with Participant Media to develop a narrative feature film chronicling a sweeping love story and complex murder mystery set against the backdrop of the devastating hurricane of 2005.
DuVernay will write, produce and direct.

I am very much onboard with Ava’s dedication to making films about our nation’s abhorrent treatment of black people with another film that I’m sure won’t make all those old, white Academy Members uncomfortable at all.
