Chris Martin—in conjunction with a Rolling Stone cover shot that screams “LOVE ME!” and “wyd…” at the same time—says he once wrote a song for Beyoncé that she rejected because it was bad.
In excerpts from this week’s RS cover story, Martin recalls playing a tune titled “Hook Up” for his good friend slash Super Bowl collaborator Beyoncé in the studio.
Martin says Bey responded with the kindest curve: “She turned it down in the sweetest possible way. She told me, ‘I really like you – but this is awful.’” Wonder how that feels.
Elsewhere in the piece, Martin describes his conscious uncoupling from his damn-near sister Gwyneth Paltrow as “very wonderful.”
“It’s a divorce – but it’s a weird one,” he tells RS. “I don’t think about that word [divorce] very often. I don’t see it that way. I see it as more like you meet someone, you have some time together and things just move through.”
