Well, what do you know: Billy Bush is officially out of a job at Today.
According to a report from Vanity Fair, a statement reportedly went out today to Today show staffers announcing Billy Bush’s termination, saying “Billy Bush will be leaving the Today show’s 9 a.m. hour, effective today.” As of last week, Bush was preparing to enter what could’ve been a very interesting legal battle over his suspension, but it looks like whatever happened happened and the silliest Bush is no longer employed.
In his own statement, Bush offers a stilted apology: “I am deeply grateful for the conversations I’ve had with my daughters, and for all of the support from family, friends and colleagues. I look forward to what lies ahead.”
I’m sure his daughters were thrilled to talk through the logistics of Daddy’s problems at work. Thrilled.
As you are most certainly aware by now, Bush was put on indefinite leave for his participation in a tape of leaked Access: Hollywood footage featuring radioactive cockroach Donald Trump saying that he enjoys grabbing women by the pussy.
Bush had been a part of the NBC family since 2001 and the Today gig was much more high-profile. And now, alas, it’s out of his hands. This is what you get when you encourage a sexist, racist, infected gallbladder running for President to brag about sexual assault!
