Brittany Howard, the front woman of Grammy-award winning rock band Alabama Shakes, has started a side project. The new band is Bermuda Triangle, a mini Americana supergroup featuring singer-songwriters Becca Mancari and Jesse Lafser, and they’ve just released their first song: a fresh version of Lafser’s song “Rosey.”
This isn’t the first time Howard has started a new band in addition to her mainstay Alabama Shakes. Back in 2015 she released a gritty rock record with the excellently named
Thunderbitch, made up of fellow Nashville musicians from bands Fly Golden Eagle and Clear Plastic Masks. The woman is always working; she even popped up on a
John Legend song last year.
Bermuda Triangle already sounds like a far cry from Thunderbitch and the bluesy, contemporary rock of Alabama Shakes. Now, the trio is playing a short tour in the South this October, but no word yet on when we can expect a full album.
