Cam Gigandet Talks Some Majorly Belated Shit About His O.C. Co-stars
LatestCam Gigandet, a 31-year-old actor best known for playing a teenager on The O.C. in 2005, recently gave an interview to Elle to promote his new legal drama Reckless, but rather than focus entirely on his new work, the magazine instead decided to get dirt on his old O.C. cast mates. Fair enough. You can only talk to Cam Gigandet about how he feels about using complicated legal jargon like “objection” for so long, after all.
Let’s begin with a Gigandet introduction courtesy of Elle‘s Justine Harman:
Cam Gigandet is a movie star. Not because he’s in movies—which he is, of course (Twilight, Burlesque, Easy A)—but because he happens to be break-your-heart handsome, irreverent beyond reproach, and old school in that slugs-scotch-and-breathes-Camel-Lights kind of way. In short, the guy’s a total badass. Need more proof?
Uh, yes? I definitely need more proof, but there isn’t any, so let’s continue.
The pair discuss Gigandet’s tattoos, internet illiteracy, new show and “joke” love of porn, before finally getting to the good stuff:
Okay, last question: What was it like working on a show like The O.C.? Do you stay in touch with anyone?
No. Actually, Ben McKenzie was kind of mean to me. I hadn’t done anything at that point and he was a little bit of an ass. But I love him. I think he’s a great actor and I love Southland.
What about Mischa Barton?
Mischa? I didn’t really…Was she there? I don’t even have memories of her.
Any good memories at all?
I learned a lot. But the things that I remember now—none of them are good. It was only the third or fourth season. Those kids were fucking miserable. They were just—they would not remember their lines on purpose. They were young. That said, I don’t talk to anyone I’ve ever worked with.
I’d love to think of what this meant for being behind the scenes of The O.C., but right now I can’t stop LOL-ing about how Gigandet played a villain named Kevin.
YOU’LL HAVE TO ANALYZE THIS ON YOUR OWN.
