Chimp Attack Victim Says Her New Face Is 'Beautiful'
LatestCharla Nash, the woman who was mauled by her friend’s chimpanzee in 2009, received a face transplant in May and the procedure has been such a success that she’s now going out in public without worrying that she’ll frighten people. In an interview with Today, Nash said a little girl recently approached her while she was shopping. “That didn’t happen before,” Nash said. “It was nice. The little girl was saying hi to me. I looked like I’ve got eyes and everything. …I’m not scaring anybody.” Nash was blinded by the attack so she can’t see her new face, but her skin is beginning to mold to her bone structure and she should start looking more like her old self. “I’ve had people tell me I’m beautiful,” said Nash. “And they were not telling me I was beautiful before.”
