Christian Bale is Badass Moses in the Exodus Trailer

Latest

Moses is getting a reboot, thanks to Christian Bale’s new film Exodus: Gods and Kings.

Exodus is directed by Ridley Scott which is why you’ll probably get hints of Gladiator in the trailer. It’s not quite a remake of The Ten Commandments, and you definitely won’t see a bedraggled old bearded Moses lumbering through the desert here like a Tucson retiree in this film. Bale’s Moses is a freaking badass. Aside from Bale, pretty much everyone else in Hollywood is in the movie, too. Via Yahoo Movies:

Scott’s all-star film tells the story of Moses leading the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt, then under rule of the Pharaoh Ramses, played by an almost unrecognizable Joel Edgerton shown above next to Bale and in the solo poster below. Ben Kingsley, Sigourney Weaver, John Turturro and Breaking Bad‘s Aaron Paul are among the other actors who signed on to bring the ancient tale to life, shooting in the exotic locations of Almería, Spain, and Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands.

Also, thanks to Entertainment Weekly, I can now say I have lived out my dream as a writer and can finally report on camel poop.

While the movie delves into rather dark subject matter—”There’s nothing mild about the Exodus or Moses,” says Bale—the actors managed to keep their senses of humor. Like when they discovered during the iconic crossing of the Red Sea that Breaking Bad‘s Paul has a rather sensitive gag reflex. “Over a series of takes, some of the camels had taken a dump in the sea,” says Edgerton. “I guess it didn’t smell so good and it kind of wafted up… It became a real problem for him.” He laughs. “And you don’t want me or Christian to have that to hold over you!”

More camel poop can be seen when the film is released on Dec. 12.
