Comment Of The Day: Lisbeth Salamander Lives Up To Her Name
LatestReviewers used some interesting terms to describe the lead character in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, but no one captured her quite like glitter.thumbs:
“Characterized by a superficially lizard-like appearance, with a slender body, nascent facial features and unique markings, Lisbeth Salamander appears as a brooding lizard awaiting an attack. With her quick tongue and keen senses, she occupies her environment with a deadly but beautiful demeanor.
Seemilgly unique for a vertebrate, her ability to regenerate after an attack seems to be Lisbeth’s most useful trait. Possesing a nubile, misunderstood quality, you almost want to reach out and touch her. But don’t be fooled, for her her perpetual defenses make it impossible to handle her without feeling the poison of her wrath.
We see Lisbeth as a type of heroine, a wronged, yet stoic creature fighting back against the society which deems her unworthy of their salvation. Fraught with an unwavering determination to survive, Lisbeth forces us to look at ourselves and to question what forces crafted this being.
