Comment of the Week: ‘If Only the White House Beehive had a Large Enough Ballroom…’

Everyone should be nothing short of abuzz on this gorgeous Sunday, as we slump into the humid pre-summer glory that is Memorial Day Weekend—a holiday meant for barbecues, crowded beaches, and sweaty cans of seltzer. But! Don’t get too buzzy! You might be mistaken for one of the hordes of angry bees that descended on Washington, D.C. last week. 

Yes, ICYMI, reporters were gathered at the White House’s Pebble Beach—a press loading dock—last Friday, when a bike of bees assailed them. No one was stung, no injuries were reported, and the thousands of bees have since relocated. Still, it really feels like nature’s trying to tell us a message. 

Naturally, such a message has been masterfully conveyed by this week’s winner of Comment of The Week, @Ray, who provided his own take on the curious phenomenon, under “Has Anyone Seen My Swarm of Angry Bees?”:

If only the white house beehive had a large ballroom addition to provide enough room for all the bees…..!

If only, indeed. Because as delicious as it is to consider the prospects of this being some poetic bee-led rebellion against an otherwise anti-nature administration, we ultimately forgot the possibility that the bees, too, are seeing this $1 billion-pricetagged catastrophe unfurl first-hand. So, why not give the people bees what they want? 

Anyways. Here’s your weekly reminder that Trump’s dumb ballroom is way behind schedule and the latest plans to fund it have been foiled. So… any other suggestions on where the White House beehive could relocate next, in the White House? Because I have a few thoughts…
