In 2026, Jezebel is entering its 19th year of existence, and in order to keep rebuilding toward our future, we’ve been digging through our past to see what might be worth resurrecting. And while we despise the trolls, we love our commenters—and the community the Jezebel comments section fostered so many moons ago.
So, starting right now—this is literally the post you’re reading—we’re launching “Comment of the Week.” Every Friday, we’ll post the comment that made us laugh the hardest or think the deepest (though it’ll likely be more of the former). And it goes without saying, but I’ll say it anyway, any comments that are racist, sexist, bigoted, homophobic, transphobic, or just downright mean will not be considered and will instead be flagged and reported, just to make sure we’re all on the same page.
If it goes well and we’re all having fun, maybe we’ll return to “Comment of the Day,” but for now, we’re starting with Fridays only.
This week’s winner—which is technically a comment from 2025—is from
Weird, this list reminded me of the Cannibal Witch articles from a couple of years ago. Yet, no mention of witches in here… like if there was a really big witch-shaped hole in this list.
If you know, you know—and if you do know (and I imagine we all do), then yes, that was technically Jezebel’s No.1 story this year. By…a lot.
Thank you for your important observation, Aneural. See you back here next Friday. Happy (and kind and respectful) commenting!
Like what you just read? You’ve got great taste. Subscribe to Jezebel, and for $5 a month or $50 a year, you’ll get access to a bunch of subscriber benefits, including getting to read the next article (and all the ones after that) ad-free. Plus, you’ll be supporting independent journalism—which, can you even imagine not supporting independent journalism in times like these? Yikes.
