Last week, photos of New Mexico State Police officer Bert Lopez having sex in uniform on the hood of a Honda went viral, and now he’s been fired. Authorities say the encounter itself wasn’t criminal, but wouldn’t say whether or not Lopez was on duty at the time. Lopez has 30 days to appeal, and police won’t be releasing a statement until the process is over. “It is an embarrassing situation for the department, but we have to remember the rights of the employee afford him due process we must follow so we won’t be commenting further,” said a spokesman.
