Country Queen Kacey Musgraves Just Dropped Two New Singles and Guess What, They're Both Great
EntertainmentKacey Musgraves has released two new songs from her forthcoming album Golden Hour, and they are both great. No, actually, they are both spectacular. There’s “Space Cowboy,” an aching breakup song with an almost frustratingly clever (and devastating) chorus, and the blissful “Butterflies,” about moseying smack dab into your true love.
Since her first single, “Merry Go Round,” Musgraves has won fans with her canny ability to turn even the most tired cliches and metaphors into charming and unforgettable country songs. While many of the lyrics in these new singles (and plenty of her old ones) don’t work on paper, there is something about her voice—a crackling sadness behind that warm Texas twang—that transforms them into acutely observed, often breathtaking personal vignettes. She’s Lee Ann Womack with a vape pen.
Stop me before I stan for much longer. Golden Hour drops March 30.
