Couple Uses Raging Wildfire as Backdrop for Wedding Photos

Latest

Having everything ruined by a wildfire is probably at the top of the list of things that can go wrong on your wedding day — right above some guy screaming “Cassandra!!!” at you as you’re exchanging vows or Julia Roberts just taking the fuck off before you say “I do” — but one Oregon couple made the best of it by taking photos with the force of nature before evacuating.

The wedding of Michael Wolber and April Hartley was just starting when fire trucks roared up to the event and insisted that everyone evacuate immediately following the ceremony, says Josh Newton, the photographer. But before the party moved to a nearby park, Newton and the happy (but probably a little frazzled) couple snuck away to take some shots with the wildfire as a backdrop. And while some may claim that this might have been irresponsible or even insensitive (considering the damage wildfires do), to me it appears like a couple trying to make the most out of an unexpected situation. (Also: sorry to be the one to say this, but this couple totally ripped off the season finale of Modern Family.)
