Dear White People Is Calling Out the Shitty Way Media Treats Race

Latest

Here’s your first look at Justin Simien’s Dear White People, the Indiegogo-funded comedy about depictions of African Americans in the media as told from the perspective of four black Ivy League students. Based on the trailer and positive reception on the festival circuit, Dear White People is shaping up to be one of the funniest and most poignant movies of 2014.

Dear White People won Simien the Special Jury Award for Breakthrough Talent at this year’s Sundance. It stars Tyler James Williams (Go On, Everybody Hates Chris), Tessa Thompson (For Colored Girls, Veronica Mars), Teyonah Parris (Mad Men), Brandon P. Bell (Hollywood Heights), Kyle Gallner (Veronica Mars), Malcolm Barrett (The Hurt Locker), Brittany Curran (Chicago Fire), Marque Richardson (The Newsroom) and Dennis Haysbert (24, every other movie and TV show ever).

It comes out this fall.
