Declaring Your Favorite Ice Cream Is An Esoteric Art
LatestThe New York Times asked readers about their favorite ice cream. The results were shocking!
The Times wrote a piece on the increasing number of premium ice creams out there, and afterwards asked readers what flavors and brands they liked. Now, obviously in a time when you can get Haageb-Dazs ginger and passion fruit at bodegas and Ben & Jerry’s gets ever more baroque and regional variations abound (Jessica alludes to some Michigan concoction known as “Mackinac Island Fudge”), our tastes have become catholic. While I, personally, am devoted to mint chip, I expected the list to be varied. But this was on another level entirely! I went through the 140 + responses and culled the favorite flavors mentioned. In fairness, some of these are particular to certain establishments. But even so, the poor performance of certain old favorites was a revelation to me. Those who find the following list unsettling, take heart: Vanilla still got the most overall nods.
