Did Michael Jackson Reference Star Wars on 'Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough'?

Unlike Byrne, ?uestlove of The Roots thought Jackson was espousing the dopeness of cutlery.

“I thought it was about forks, when I was a kid I was just like ‘Keep on with the forks!’” the drummer says. “I didn’t know what the forks were.”

While Jackson never confirmed or denied the Star Wars connection, the director of “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough” did work with George Lucas before helming Jackson’s video. Perhaps that bit of information can keep fueling the rumor fires for years to come, adding this quandary to the list alongside questions like who Carly Simon is really singing about in “You’re So Vain.”

The film debuts on Showtime on February 5 and features acts like The Weeknd revealing Jackson’s influence on their careers and creative styles. “I found my falsetto because of “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough,” the Oscar-nominated pop singer says in the trailer.

The release of Michael Jackson’’s Journey from Motown to Off the Wall will coincide with a reissue of Off The Wall, the album, on February 26. This film follows Lee’s controversial Chicago anti-violence film, Chi-Raq.
