Did Michael Jackson Reference Star Wars on 'Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough'?

The trailer for Michael Jackson’s Journey from Motown to Off the Wall, Spike Lee’s documentary about the artist’s creative path from The Jackson 5 to Off The Wall, poses an interesting question: was he referencing Star Wars in his 1979 hit “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough”? It seems like it to some.
“Keep on with the force don’t, don’t stop til you get enough,” Jackson sings in the iconic video between hip twists.
“It had these bizarre lyrics, to me, that were quoting Star Wars,” says musician David Byrne in the film, referring to the song’s chorus.
