Back in March Sheeran told the Sun that he would like to star in and soundtrack a movie about his life that would be a mixture of Notting Hill and the indie musical hit Once. But now, in an interview with British music magazine Q, Sheeran has reportedly now thrown in Eminem’s 8 Mile as an inspiration.
“I want to have an 8 Mile moment but 8 Mile meets Notting Hill,” he told the magazine. “Not gritty like Detroit but, like, Ipswich. I’ve got loads of songs about Ipswich that haven’t come out so I could make a soundtrack.”
Did Ed Sheeran have an 8 Mile-style upbringing? Not really. His father is an art historian and his mom is a publicist-turned-jewelry designer. He grew up middle-class in the picturesque, working-class town Framlingham. At one point as a teenager he was homeless and apparently sleeping outside Buckingham Palace, except, whoops, he had to clarify that was an exaggeration.
So I guess Sheeran’s life is sort of 8 Mile-esque if you replace the trailer parks with castles on hills?
