Emmy Nominations: Good News, True DetectiveOrphan Black
LatestOn Thursday morning the nominations for the 66th Emmy Awards were announced by Mindy Kaling and Carson Daly. Luckily for Carson, The Voice was nominated. Luckily for everyone else, so was Game of Thrones – which got the most nods – as well as newcomers Fargo and True Detective.
In comedies, Modern Family was nominated yet again, but newbie Silicon Valley got added to the mix. Girls, after getting nominated two years in a row, did not. Taylor Schilling also got a nod for her role on Orange is the New Black (Netflix’s shows did well again this year) and Ricky Gervais got one for his role on Derek.
In the dramas, Lizzy Caplan scored with Masters of Sex, as did Scandal gladiator Kerry Washington. On the men’s side, both of your True Detective leads were praised; the show was also nominated for Best Drama (unfortunately, so was The Newsroom). Big disappointments: Tatiana Maslany did not get nominated for her multiple roles on Orphan Black; and The Good Wife did not get a drama nod for best series.
Head to the comments below to see the full nominations for each category/complain about who got snubbed. The full full list is here. The awards will be broadcast on NBC on Monday August 25 (damn Sunday night football) at 8 ET.
