Tareq Salahi of White House party-crashing fame is claiming that his wife Michaele has been kidnapped. Even worse, she’s apparently being forced to tell people she’s okay.
Tareq told TMZ that his wife left for a hair appointment and never returned. She later called and said she was going to her mom’s house, but her mom hasn’t seen her. So Tareq contacted the Warren County Sheriff’s Department, who told him she’d already called and told them she was dealing with “family issues.” In a statement, he said, “It is our belief as of last night, that Michaele Salahi may have been kidnapped or abducted and being held under duress and forced to tell persons, including authorities she is okay.” He also gave a phone number — 540-635-9933 — where tipsters can call with information. The voicemail box was already full when I called, and I would give anything to hear the messages on it right now.
It is of course possible that Michaele is actually in danger, in which case everyone who’s rolling their eyes at this story (me among them) will feel like an asshole. And so, if that is the situation, we hope she’s okay.
However, it also sounds like the Salahis could be having marital problems. And it’s not surprising that Tareq feels the authorities aren’t taking the situation seriously enough — when you spend all your time famewhoring, your word starts to carry less weight.
