Fashion's Night Out Was A Messy One

BeautyStyle

For a third year, retailers in New York City and across the country put together after-hours events to boost the industry with celebrities stepping out to support the cause.

Does Diane von Furstenberg realize that she has the same exact hairdo as Rocky Dennis? Anna Wintour is supposed to be like the top dog at these events, but I’m always totally underwhelmed by what she’s wearing. Rachel Zoe looked like quite the business woman at the Intermix event, while Mary J. Blige just looked super tired. And as far as merchandising goes, the Fashion’s Night Out logo T-shirts are pretty unfashionable.

Nicole Miller, the Olsen twins, and Charlotte Ronson all showed up for the JCPenney “Miss for a Must” (whatever that means) event, and all I could wonder is if Charlotte Ronson felt some kind of longing seeing Mary-Kate and Ashley together, knowing that her twin wasn’t there.

My favorites of the evening—simply because they weren’t boring—were Misfit Dior (remember her from the White Rapper Show on VH1?), Beth Ditto (who performed at the MAC event) and Jessica Hart at Ferragamo’s Black And White Fete.

Shoe designer Giuseppe Zanotti probably had the biggest celebrity turnout at his store, but he insisted on being photographed with all of them, so he is literally in every picture from this event, looking creepy. Here he is with Nicki Minaj, Rose McGowan, and Angela Simmons.

And here he is again, this time with Ramona Singer, Whitney Port, Tiffany Hines, and some pens.

If there would’ve been three top hats, then it could’ve been considered a trend, but as there were only two top hats, Kristen Rose and June Ambrose just look “different.” Meanwhile, it appears that singer Leyla Zaloutskaya wore a left over from the Blonde Ambition tour.

Things were so much worse out in L.A. Rachel Bilson was the only one who showed up at the Sunglass Hut event. This girl needs to get her career in check. First she’s relegated to dialogue-less ice cream bar commercials and now she’s going to a glorified mall kiosk on FNO.

While I like Nicole Richie’s caftan-ish dress, her headpiece looks like a bedazzled sleep mask.

Holland Roden might be wearing the least flattering dress in all of Fashion Week. Phoebe Price is probably the first non-Kardashian I’ve seen in a piece from the Kardashian Kollection for Sears. And beauty queens should only really wear their sashes out if their cutting a ribbon or something.
