Stand down, Rhode girlies (are there Rhode girlies?), Justin Bieber did wish his wife a happy birthday. I repeat, Justin Bieber did wish his wife a happy birthday. On Monday, Hailey Bieber put to rest a whole weekend’s worth of discourse by posting an Instagram story proving Justin did, in fact, help her celebrate her 29th birthday over the weekend. Finally, the world can know peace.
Internet speculation about the Biebers’ relationship is seemingly never-ending, but it reached new heights over the weekend when fans noticed Justin was suspiciously absent from his wife’s “pre-birthday” dinner hosted by her skincare brand, Rhode Skin.
According to Rhode’s Insta stories, the dinner was attended by a number Hailey’s A-list friends like Kylie Jenner, Camila Morron, and Charlotte Lawrence. But the A-listiest Bieber associate—aka her husband—was nowhere to be found. While the dinner sparked the speculation, many were quick to brush off that it signaled trouble in paradise, suggesting it seemed like more of a work thing/girls’ night, and maybe it just wasn’t an event a husband was supposed to attend. Sure. Fine. We’ll allow it.
But when November 22–Hailey’s actual birthday—came and went without even so much as a story post from Justin, fans took notice. The snub was considered particularly egregious in comparison to Justin’s previous history of lovey-dovey posts about his wife on her birthday. Here are four he posted in November of last year alone: One, two, three, four.
Justin hasn’t posted anything to his Instagram since November 14, which isn’t much of a defense, so fans flocked to the comments of Hailey’s own birthday carousel (which did include a video of her and Justin holding hands) to express their concerns.

Clearly, Hailey received the messages, though I think it’s safe to say she learned long ago not to respond directly to this kind of stuff. Instead, she posted yet another clarifying Instagram story, this time featuring her husband and a cake:
As you can see, alongside Mrs. Bieber’s “prettiest cake” is her adoring husband, Justin. Who is kind of just standing to the side, but whatever, he’s there. So will this be enough to put the endless speculation about these two to rest? Not a chance. But maybe she can wish for it on her 30th.
