Two former employees at Dr. Kermit Gosnell’s West Philadelphia “abortion clinic” have pled guilty to murder.
Gosnell ran a clinic wherein mostly poor women seeking late term abortions were subjected to horrible conditions. Untrained employees reportedly murdered seven viable babies, and abortions were frequently performed after the legal cutoff of 24 weeks. One woman died after being administered a lethal dose of Demerol by someone with no medical licenses. Other women reportedly died after having their uteruses perforated during procedures performed by the doctor. His clinic was illegal and should have been shut down, but was not inspected for 17 years.
Former clinic employee Sherry West pled guilty in the woman’s death, and Andrea Morton pled guilty to involvement in the death of a baby.
