Guy Who Wrote Book on How Not to Get Gored by Bulls Gets Gored by Bull

A Chicago author who literally wrote the book on not getting gored by a bull got gored by a bull in Pamplona today. Bill Hillmann, the 32-year-old author of Fiesta: How to Survive the Bulls of Pamplona, sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries after being gored twice in his right thigh during the annual event.

Via FOX:

Photographs showed Hillmann – dressed in the San Fermin event’s traditional white with a red neckerchief – being gored on the ground by a black bull as other runners scattered.
Tension spiked when the bull became separated from the pack in the final stretch.
British writer Alexander Fiske-Harrison, one of Hillmann’s co-authors of the Pamplona book and a fellow runner Wednesday, said on his blog that the bull turned back and charged at runners.
…Fifteen people have died from gorings since record-keeping began in 1924. Dozens of people are injured each year in the runs, most of them in falls.
The bulls are invariably killed in afternoon bullfights.

Oh, good. As long as the bulls are punished.

For their infernal…running. Down the road where the humans forced them to go. While voluntarily leaping in front of their horns.

You know, I actually have a foolproof plan for “how to survive the bulls of Pamplona.” It’s called STAY THE FUCK OUT OF PAMPLONA. I have a 100% success rate so far. Maybe I’ll write a book.

(Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Hillman, obviously.)
