Haim has already done “Man! I Feel Like A Woman,” but if that wasn’t enough to convince you they should start over as a Shania Twain cover band, this version of “That Don’t Impress Me Much” will turn anyone into a convert.
The Haim sisters appeared on an Australian radio station called Triple J to share some tunes. Before launching into this new gold standard for folky covers they told the hosts that anyone who wants to date them has to be a fan of Shania Twain. I assume they mean date individually, not as a group. This is as good a standard for dating as any and also practical, because Haim must rehearse Shania songs constantly.
While the original recording will always hold a place in my heart, as will Shania’s leopard print tube top with matching cape, this cover does impress me much. Haim, I love your music, but I may love Shania Twain’s music sung by you more? The group also performed “Want You Back” live, if you need to do a contrast and compare.
