In an interview with The Guardian, Larsson revealed she lost out on a $3 million brand deal over a social media comment she’d recently made in support of abortion. After a fan shared a video from Larsson’s tour with the caption, “I didn’t know I was pregnant here, but at least my baby got to hear Midnight Sun before I aborted it,” Larsson replied, joking, “I killed the performance, and then you killed it after the performance purrrrrr.” And did she apologize? Hell no.
“I lost $3 million, which is the biggest brand deal I’d been offered in my life,” she told the outlet. “I was genuinely like, ‘OK, losers!’”
In a TikTok, Larsson also responded to critics who called the joke insensitive, explaining her frustration with how the subject of abortion is still taboo.
“I am so pro-choice. I am as pro-choice as the next person, but abortion is a very serious topic, and I just want to know why that is,” she said. “Why is [abortion] only morally OK when women have to suffer? Why can’t it just be okay for a woman to want to have an abortion?” From her lips to God’s ears!
Unfortunately, we are out here pleading with legislators to let women have basic healthcare, while Larsson is operating in a school of thought so beyond what our society is capable of grasping that I actually think it would make some GOP lawmakers’ heads explode. Maybe send them a link…
She has since made her stance on abortion unmistakably clear, posting “I love abortions” on her Instagram story, along with several other statements that mock our constructed cultural taboos, like calling out ICE, which, of course, riles up the MAGA snowflakes.
