Oh man, it’s wedding season, my Gs, when it seems like if we’re not in one, we’re going to one. So is Tracey, who writes:
I have fallen in love with these shoes (I actually love them in both the nude and black colors) that I want to wear with a simple black romper to a wedding on July 2nd but I cannot afford them! Can you help me to find a dupe for closer to $100?
The sandals Tracey’s fiending for are made by See by Chloe (above), and they’re $305 at Anthropologie; I can definitely see not wanting to drop a few bones like that for a wedding that’s not yours. Luckily, the style—the platform ghillie shoe, modeled after the strappy dance slippers worn by traditional Irish and Scottish dancers—could not be more popular at this juncture, so there’s a lot out there to choose from.
If you can do without the flatform, Topshop makes a cute sandal with gold detailing on the heel ($48, Topshop); it also comes in a coral shade that’s a little closer to the blush above ($48, Nordstrom). Jeffrey Campbell’s got a bootie with a flatform in both black and sandy peach ($144, Nordstrom)
Asos’s version, in black, is on sale ($61.47, Asos). Eloquii’s got a very close duplicate of the See by Chloes, though it only comes in wide widths ($69.90, Eloquii).
You could also get the same, summery effect with an espadrille; these Loeffler Randalls are on sale, though a little beyond a hundo ($175, Bloomingdales). And I know this isn’t exactly what you wanted, but I love these sterling block-heel sandals from Office, and could see them seriously dressing up your look in a simple way. (about $62 plus UK shipping, Office).
Friends, got any more ideas for Tracey? The wedding’s soon!
