Here Are Your 2015 Golden Globe Nominations
LatestThe Golden Globe nominations were announced on Thursday morning, and a black woman has broken into the boys club of white males for Best Movie Director—Ava Duvernay for her Martin Luther King, Jr. biopic, Selma.
According to Melissa Silverstein of Women and Hollywood, Duvernay is the fifth woman to be nominated for the category. One recent crasher of the Best Director sausage party is Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty director Kathryn Bigelow. Bigelow went on to beat her ex-husband James Cameron in the battle royale of ex fights when she took home an Oscar for Hurt Locker in 2012.
In television, Viola Davis pulled in a Best Actress nod for her emotional and conniving performance in Shonda Rhimes’ third ABC smash, How to Get Away with Murder. In film, Quvenzhané Wallis earned a Best Actress nod for the forthcoming Annie, shading some struggling actor’s whole career before she’s even hit puberty. Jennifer Aniston grabbed a nod for Cake, a movie that also hasn’t hit theaters yet but she’s looks disheveled in the previews so, you know, it’s award season catnip. And finally Meryl Streep is nominated for the millionth time for her turn in Into the Woods for Best Supporting Actress,we can only pray for the mere mortals like Jessica Chastain and Emma Stone in the category against her.
Here‘s the full Golden Globes 2015 nominations list, and don’t forget your favorite best friends, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will host the show on January 11:
