ICE Agent Kills U.S. Citizen as She Tries to Drive Away After Another ICE Agent Attempts to Open Her Car Door
"[DHS is] already trying to spin this as an action of self-defense," Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said following the shooting. "Having seen the video myself, I want to tell everybody directly that is bullshit."

Since Trump unleashed ICE agents onto Minneapolis in December as part of “Operation Metro Surge,” the Department of Homeland Security claims they’ve arrested at least 1,400 people. As of Wednesday morning, they’ve also shot and killed at least one U.S. citizen.
During an immigration raid early Wednesday, groups of residents attempted to block ICE agents from entering their neighborhoods. In videos circulating on social media, one woman is seen parked in a burgundy SUV, partially blocking the road. A few ICE agents begin to surround her, ordering her to get out of the car, with one agent approaching her driver’s door and attempting to open it. She then reverses her car in an apparent attempt to flee. An ICE agent near the front of the vehicle then appeared to fire three shots through the windshield, killing the 37-year-old woman.
Despite multiple videos from various angles of the incident, DHS is attempting to spin the incident and claim the agent merely acted in self-defense. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem went even further, claiming the woman “attacked” ICE Agents and described her actions as an “act of domestic terrorism.”
“They are already trying to spin this as an action of self-defense. Having seen the video myself, I want to tell everybody directly that is bullshit,” Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said in a press conference following the incident. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz also retweeted DHS’s statement, writing, “I’ve seen the video. Don’t believe this propaganda machine.”
“To ICE, get the fuck out of Minneapolis,” Frey continued. “We do not want you here. Your stated reason for being in this city is to create some sort of safety and you are doing the opposite.”
At the same press conference, Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara also appeared to dispute DHS’s claim that the woman was a domestic terrorist: “This woman was in her car and it appears then blocking the street because of the presence of federal law enforcement, which is obviously something that has been happening not just in Minneapolis but around the country.”
After the shooting, local station KARE reported that residents gathered and threw snowballs at ICE agents, who responded with pepper spray and tear gas.
