Lately, I’ve been feeling like that overwhelmed Mr. Krabs meme trying to keep up with which celebrity couples have split, which have potentially cheated on one another, and which ones haven’t been a couple since 2016. It’s becoming a full-time job! And as of last night, we have some new intel to add to the famous-people-no-longer-fuckin’ spreadsheet.

Lupita Nyong’o announced Thursday afternoon in a lengthy Instagram that she and her surfer (and sports commentator) boyfriend, Selema Masekela, are bailing from the love wave they were riding together. (Sorry.)

“At this moment, it is necessary for me to share a personal truth and publicly dissociate myself from someone I can no longer trust,” Lupita wrote. “I find myself in a season of heartbreak because of a love suddenly and devastatingly extinguished by deception.” This plus Ali Krieger’s pointed reference to Beyoncé’s Lemonade yesterday??? The celebs are not being shy with the cheating allegations!

Lupita doesn’t explicitly name Selema in her post, but like any snoop worth their weight, it’s easy enough to assemble the context clues to know who she’s talking about. Plus she deleted all photos of him from her Instagram, including the December 2022 post that confirmed their romance.

As the dust settles from this split, like a phoenix rising from the ashes, a new romance rumor is born. Folks are speculating that sparks may be igniting between Lupita and newly single Joshua Jackson. Josh is emerging from a split earlier this month with his wife of four years, Jodie Turner-Smith. Jodie was the one who filed for divorce from Josh and a source told People that their partnership “turned into an unhealthy marriage that made her unhappy.”

On Wednesday evening, a day before she confirmed her split with Selema, Lupita and Josh were spotted out at friend Janelle Monae’s Los Angeles concert. They supposedly arrived together but were with a group of about 10 friends, according to TMZ. The outlet cites a source that insists the two are just pals and have been for a number of years.

So it seems there isn’t much to this alleged romance other than the hopes and dreams of Lupita’s fans who want a better relationship for her. Though, who knows if that’s something Mr. Dawson’s Creek is capable of. In the meantime, hopefully, he’s a nice dude to go to a concert with.
