Well it’s official, True Detective season three is happening with Mahershala Ali, the man who may just save the entire series. There is no date set for the premiere and this is all we have of the plot so far, from Deadline:
Season 3 of True Detective will tell the story of a macabre crime in the heart of the Ozarks, and a mystery that deepens over decades and plays out in three separate time periods. Ali will play the lead role of Wayne Hays, a state police detective from Northwest Arkansas.
So it sounds like…every other season!
As for who is writing the show it’s still Nic Pizzolato, even though he basically destroyed any hope for the franchise with the show’s confusing second season. He’s also co-directing beside Jeremy Saulnier, whose Nazi thriller Green Room was a break-out hit of 2015, so that gives me hope that this season could be genuinely terrifying.
Now, fingers crossed for women characters who aren’t just whores and wives!
