It’s Paris Haute Couture Week and the Celebs Are Wearing…Suits

Much of the glitterati eschewed this week’s July 4th-related festivities—and when America is in this state, who can blame them? Instead, they jetted off to Paris to attend the fall/winter haute couture shows, which sounds like a much more suitable time for a celebrity. They’ve popped up at Viktor & Rolf, Chanel, Schiaparelli, Thom Browne, Rahul Mishra, and more.

Some of them—I’m looking at you, Riley Keough—seem a bit overdressed for the summer weather, while others (Emily Ratajkowski) look like they arrived straight from a pool party. But most really hit the nail on the head, so click through to see what everyone from Shakira to Sofia Coppola wore.

Is Shakira’s outfit a message to her cheating ex? Or the men she’s been rumored to be interested in now, Tom Cruise and Lewis Hamilton? Or perhaps it is to us, the lowly gossip hounds fiending after the latest update on her dramatic personal life. Either way, j’adore.

Miss Flo attended the Valentino Haute Couture show on Wednesday looking every bit the face of the fashion house. Our girl loves a large gown and also loves to sneakily free the nipple, as this dress does. I’m also very into her punky new hair.

This man knows how to make something a Look. Sure, this is relatively straightforward menswear at its core, but paired with a dangerously stainable long coat with a statement collar and subtly bedazzled boots? Perfect.

Cardi B arrived in a cloak that I imagine she was given when she was crowned queen of the ravens. I love everything about this accessory; I just hope she wasn’t too hot. (The highs were in the mid-70s today in Paris.)

I’m sorry, I just had to include her look sans cloak. When it comes to celebs at fashion shows, there’s nothing I love more than Cardi B having an absolute blast; this photo is exhibit A—note how perfect this dress is for her, and how wonderful her accessories are—and I’d now like to direct your attention to exhibit B.

Girl looks absolutely terrified and deeply confused. I guess I would be too if Valentino put me in feathered hotpants and a makeup artist heavily lined my waterline like it’s the late ’90s.

This feels much more her speed—or she at least looks less miserable. The bottom of this top is very confusing to me, but she’s at a couture show, so what do I know!

OK, this—which she wore to the Thom Browne show—is far and away my favorite of her outfits this week, but I think that’s largely due to her hair, makeup, and dream half-updo/eyeliner combo.

Ms. Ross attended the Schiaparelli show on Monday in an outfit from my dream wardrobe.

She changed outfits for her next appearance but looks no less glamorous. Ample décolletage and a chain belt are the perfect combo to make a tweed suit exciting.

I want to like this—I love texture and pattern—but I can’t stop thinking how Henry VIII would’ve loved those sleeves.

Their pose in this photo is delightfully inexplicable, as if they’re world leaders meeting at a G7 summit. The matching separates are a bit much for me, but they’re also very Cher Horowitz-coded, so I’m in.

This is so boring, doesn’t appear to fit her chest right, and the high-low hem feels painfully “going to a festival in summer 2011.” Step it up, girl! You’re at a haute couture show!

Gorgeous color. I know tiny bags are in but that doesn’t look big enough to even fit the smallest iPhone. Are itty bitty bags going to be what finally ends our smartphone addiction??

We saw a lot of feathered boas and capes on women walking the red carpet at Cannes, and I am positively thrilled to see them making their way into men’s outfits too.

It’s giving Jerry’s puffy white shirt, but make it sexy. Also, it looks like that tiny purse is just big enough for a smartphone.

Lisa Rinna is high fashion now. This is very movie-villain, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

It feels like she borrowed this from the Daisy Jones and the Six wardrobe department. I’m not mad about it—it’s cute and on-trend for now and her 1970s character—but it does look far too hot for July. Pull this one out once the leaves begin to turn, Riley!

No, that’s not Anne Hathaway or Sandra Bullock, no matter how much it looks like either of them. And once again, I find myself wondering, isn’t she hot in this?? (Temperature-wise, of course. I can observe that she is definitively hot in the other sense of the word.) I’m also a little worried about the bulge of fabric under her arm—it’s not just due to the way she’s posing here, either, according to other photos.

I love the texture of her dress, and that they both went for a deep V.

The Selling Sunset star looks like a capital-C Celebrity here, and she’s sporting what I like to call “mermaid hair” (its boob-covering function is more obvious from other angles).

Chic! How I wish I had more occasions to wear hats like this.

Love that she’s able to take a break from promo for The Bear and put on a chic Thom Browne suit. Those shoes look very hard to walk in, but she’s an incredibly impressive woman so I have no doubt she’s able to pull it off.

Chiara here is a Fashion Lady—former model, blogger, etc.—but I especially wanted to share this photo for Fabio’s shoulders and biceps. He’s been putting in the work at the gym and I just want him to know we recognize it.

I absolutely love the contrasting textures she’s wearing to the Iris Van Herpen show. Delicate and tough—very Arya, to be honest. (Also, I just want to express how grateful I am that we’re in a comfy shoe era. I’m sure fashion will move on soon but for now, my dogs are grateful.)

Speaking of Game of Thrones stars... Another win in the minimalist, pantsuit version of what Nicky Hilton’s wearing. Gwen here is also attending the Schiaparelli show, and her shoes are the perfect nod to her past role as the lady knight, Brienne of Tarth.

The model looks amazing, but I guess that isn’t surprising when you look amazing in clothes for a living.

Once again, she’s wearing a perfect combo of contrasting vibes, this time feminine and masculine—something Thom Browne excels at designing.

Diane Keaton has been famous for excellently wearing suiting for decades, and oh man, can she still pull it off—and in seersucker no less. Infinity extra points to this outfit for holding this whimsical bag in a whimsical manner.

This looks like something a spaceship captain of the future would wear to a Galaxy Gala. Also, her bangs are perfect.

This Dior dress is beautiful and very cute—but not quite so cute that it crosses the line to twee. Would also be a perfect bridal dress for an afternoon wedding.

My tall queen. I love each individual part of this outfit, and it almost works, but it looks like she felt a little underdressed as she ran out of the house so she threw on a veil.

This is an outfit her White Lotus character would be wearing after she quit journalism for good and began attending charity luncheons and cocktail parties. That’s not necessarily a knock, but this is veering a bit into Emily Gilmore territory.

We will forever stan the naked dress, especially ones that free the nipple—and Ora went two for two at the Alaïa show on Sunday.

Your chic-but-sensible aunts have arrived. I genuinely love and covet these outfits, but they look like what you’d wear to a work meeting, not a Chanel fashion show—but I guess such rules don’t apply to you when you’re a nepo baby with a very impressive career.
