More Suicide Squad content, yaayyy… A film about DC Comics villains The Joker and Harley Quinn is in development, starring Jared Leto and Margot Robbie.
Based on the description, the film would be something of a more sadistic Bonnie & Clyde, or a beautiful murderers’ rom-com. According to The Hollywood Reporter:
The film is described as a “criminal love story,” according to one source, featuring the two murdering maniacs who are cornerstones in the Batman mythos. One insider offered this: “an insane and twisted love story. When Harry Met Sally on benzedrine.”
The project is being helmed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, the directors and executive producers behind This Is Us and Crazy, Stupid, Love. There’s also, by god, a separate Joker movie in the works, not starring Leto. It’s all part of the studio’s plan for projects that “fall outside the established cinematic universe which sees actors and storylines threaded through multiple movies.” In other words, Suicide Squad will never die.
