Johnny Depp Isn't Doing So Great Actually

Oh no.

Rolling Stone profiled Johnny Depp and in several small, creepy ways it did not go well. One of the first things Depp says to the reporter on record is “So are you ready to hear the truth? It’s full of betrayal.” And eventually we get here (describing a moment from two years ago):

“The Pirates of the Caribbean star said he decided to start writing a memoir on an old typewriter to cope with his post-divorce depression as he toured with his band, Hollywood Vampires.
“‘I poured myself a vodka in the morning and started writing until the tears filled my eyes and I couldn’t see the page anymore,’ [Johnny Depp] said. ‘I kept trying to figure out what I’d done to deserve this. I’d tried being kind to everyone, helping everyone, being truthful to everyone. The truth is most important to me. And all this still happened.””

Regular Hunter S. Thompson over here. (Depp modeled much of his life off the writer, FYI). There are so many odd comments, best to check out a careful curation of ’em. At one point he suggests that dousing the Middle East with narcotics would have allowed Osama bin Laden to be apprehended more quickly.

Anyway, to the men out there writing memoirs: Think about it.

Although in Depp’s case, it sounds as if he could use the money.

Some achingly sad news: Kate Spade’s father, Frank Bosnahan, died on Wednesday, fewer than three weeks after his daughter died by suicide, and a day before her funeral. Brosnahan was 89 years old.

A statement from the Brosnahan family, as reported by TMZ, reads:

“We are deeply saddened to announced that Katy’s father, Earl F. Brosnahan, Jr. (Frank), passed away last night at age 89. He had been failing in health of late and was heartbroken over the recent death of his beloved daughter. He was at home and surrounded by family at the time of his passing.”
