Justin Theroux Commented on Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's Divorce So Jennifer Aniston Didn't Have to

As the divorce of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt totters on, Jennifer Aniston has remained silent but her husband, Justin Theroux has not. Great!

Speaking to Business Insider Monday while doing press for his upcoming film, The Girl on the Train, Theroux expressed what sounds like heartfelt sympathy for the people that really matter in this entire situation: the children. “As a child of divorce, all I can say is that’s terrible news for those children, and that’s all you can really say,” he said, adding that “It’s boring to sort of comment on anything else.”

“Anything else” could refer to a number of things, but I think everyone can agree that Theroux’s talking about his wife, Jennifer Aniston. True, much of the focus of Brangelina’s demise has been on what Jennifer Aniston is thinking/doing/eating/wearing/Pinning/plotting in preparation for the moment she’s been allegedly waiting for her entire life. Maybe Jennifer Aniston is perfectly happy with Justin Theroux and all his tattoos. Maybe she woke up last week, heard the news that Brad Pitt was getting a divorce, smiled quietly to herself and went to three hours of hot yoga. Who knows?!

Theroux, doing his best to put this thing to bed, doubled down. “There’s an endless appetite for trash, apparently, though everyone would say that they don’t have that appetite,” he said. “It’s shocking how much bandwidth things can take up when there are far more important things going on in the world.”

In a very wise move, Brad Pitt is staying his ass inside while this whole divorce/rumored child abuse/mess blows over. Despite the impending release of Terrence Malick’s Voyage of Time, a documentary about the death of the universe and uh, the passage of time – which he narrates – Pitt issued a statement saying that he’d not be attending the premiere.

US Weekly reports:

“[Filmmaker] Terrence [Malick]’s Voyage of Time is an incredibly beautiful and unique experimental IMAX film for children and families chronicling the birth of time. I’m very grateful to be part of such a fascinating and educational project, but I’m currently focused on my family situation and don’t want to distract attention away from this extraordinary film, which I encourage everyone to see.”

That’s probably for the best.
