Kesha's Mom Says Sony 'Wants Her to Fail' After Billboard Awards Performance Is Cancelled

Latest

Kesha was reportedly set to make a major statement during the Billboard Music Awards, but Dr. Luke’s label blocked the performance from happening. Kesha’s mom is understandably irate.

The rumored “statement performance” was presumed to be in reference to her lawsuit against Dr. Luke, but Kesha has since denied that it had anything to do with him. Instead, she says she planned to perform a cover of Bob Dylan’s “It Ain’t Me Babe.”

After Luke’s label Kemosabe had the performance cancelled, despite approving it at first, Kesha wrote on Instagram: “I just wanted to make very clear that this performance was about me honoring one of my favorite songwriters of all time and has never had anything at all to do with Dr. Luke. I was never going to use a picture of him, speak of him or allude to my legal situation in any way. I simply wanted to sing a song I love to honor an artist I have always looked up to.”

Kesha’s mom let her frustration out on Twitter, writing: “How much more public abuse does my daughter have to take before someone says ‘Enough is enough’!” And: “Are KEMOSABE’s actions today the actions of a record label that is trying to promote the success of their artist ?” Her tweets below.
