Kourtney Kardashian Will Not Be Getting Off Her Ass to Work

Last week, the seventh season of The Kardashians premiered on Hulu ,and so far, we’ve gotten very little worthwhile kontent. The first episode, for instance, opens with the family’s pithy (and utterly performative) acknowledgment of the devastating wildfires that ravaged Los Angeles last year. Then, it quickly cuts to the planning of a family dinner at their pristine Hidden Hills estate…

Two episodes in, and it hasn’t gotten any more entertaining. But the latest sees the eldest sister share her work ethos as she joins forces with Julia Fox to sell gummies that supposedly increase one’s libido. While Kourtney is at the helm of a wellness and lifestyle company and continues to film for the show (though she’s long fought it), it’s safe to say she doesn’t share her sister’s “get your fucking ass up and work” attitude.

“I usually try to work once a week, at the most, if that,” Kardashian told the camera. “Or once a month.” Is this a wildly out-of-touch take? Yes. Does it make me want to put my head through a wall? 110%. But with some additional context, I get why she only wants to clock in for photoshoots with her former brother-in-law’s ex-girlfriend and cameos in her step-daughter’s music videos.

Last season, Kardashian got candid about a shift in priorities since having her fourth child with husband, Travis Barker. After joining Kim for a Dolce & Gabbana photoshoot, she deemed the experience “a good reminder of why I retired into motherhood.”

“I mean it’s fun to be on set with Kim and the vibes are immaculate, but I think this makes me want to wear massive clothes. I’m not into showing my body right now,” Kardashian told the camera.”I don’t work out, it’s not my priority. I’m in a taking care of my baby and kids and going on tour with my husband mode. I’m just not that girl anymore.” Honestly? Fair! If I didn’t have to, I, too, would forgo a life of cosmetic surgeries, starving myself thin, and shooting campaign after campaign.

Given Kim continues to force her stamp on social media and television, merchandise, and fake pubic hair panties, I’m in favor of a sister who doesn’t exhaust every opportunity to kollect from kapitalism. To be clear, Kourtney is no Noam Chomsky, but at least she’s (semi!) relatable.
