The Trump campaign did not mention McEntee’s pending investigation, nor did White House officials explain why he was “abruptly escorted out of the White House” on Monday, according to Politico. Instead, on Tuesday morning, the campaign released the following statement: “John McEntee, who was a personal aide to President Trump in the 2016 campaign and the White House, will also re-join the Trump campaign as a senior adviser for campaign operations.” On a side note: I’m really looking forward to reading about a corruption investigation into the Trump campaign in a few years!
As all good things come in threes, McEntee’s firing and subsequent rehiring is just one of several unceremonious White House departures this week—and it’s only Tuesday. As of Tuesday morning, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has been axed, and National Economic Director Gary Cohn has resigned. Just another week in Trumpland, I guess?
