Man With Down Syndrome Owns Restaurant, Specializes in Serving Up Hugs
Latest
Tim Harris owns a restaurant called Tim’s Place in Albuquerque, New Mexico and has won multiple medals at the Special Olympics. As far as his wonderful-seeming parents are aware, this accomplished 26-year-old is also the only person with Down syndrome to own his own restaurant in the entire United States. Harris has dreamt of owning a restaurant since he was a child and now that he’s accomplished his goal, he couldn’t be more thrilled. In fact, he’s so happy that he starts every day by dancing his way into work.
Tim’s Place claims to specialize in breakfast, lunch and hugs. While Albuquerque is too far away for us to verify the breakfast or lunch thing, we can speak for the hugs — Tim, who keeps a hug counter in the dining room has given customers over 59,000 hugs since his business opened.
