Meryl Streep Playing a Rock Star? Yes, Please.

Latest

Meryl Streep as a once-career-driven-now-retired rock star? Yes please. The Academy Award winner is attached to a script called Ricky and the Flash crafted by Juno writer Diablo Cody with Jonathan Demme as the director. Demme helmed the emotional, Anne Hathaway-led Rachel Getting Married.

In “Ricky and the Flash,” Streep would play a woman who abandoned her family when she was younger to find fame and fortune as a rock star. Decades later, she decides to be a mother again to her estranged children, one of whom is going through a rough divorce.

The Wrap reports that Marc Platt, who collaborated with Demme on Rachel, will produce the project along with Mason Novick, who produced Juno and Young Adult. Honestly, this band of creatives sounds like the perfect combination of established talent, snark and pop culture-awareness. Plus: We might just see Streep as a chain-smoking leather-pants-clad Chryssie Hynde type, which would be awesome.
