After The Mindy Project ends, Mindy Kaling will take her love of romcoms to another extreme by heading up a revival of the 1994 classic Four Weddings and a Funeral as a Hulu series.
Kaling is working on what’s described as an “anthology series,” in collaboration with her Mindy Project showrunner Matt Warburton and Four Weddings screenwriter Richard Curtis.
Similar to the film, the series follows a group of friends as their lives intersect through the five events. Each season will center on a different story arc.
It’s hard to imagine the series being able to capture the genuine English charm and cynicism of the original, which starred Andie McDowell and Hugh Grant as destined lovers. But since we’re deep in the era of remakes, just like Charles in the movie, Hollywood is desperate to try its luck anyway.
