Nancy Mace Uses Iran Attacks to Go After Ilhan Omar, Who’s… Somalian
“So tell me, what was it like being married to your brother?" Mace tweeted at Omar after she called her out.

Welcome back to Monday Barf Bag.
It’s only March, and already 2026 has yielded two long profiles attempting to investigate whatever the fuck is going on with Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.).
On Friday, Politico published a nearly 4,000-word story on the congresswoman, beginning with the general hypothesis, “Is she … OK?” (This was similar to New York Magazine’s February profile, less generously titled, “Nancy Mace Is Not Okay.”) Among other things, she told Politico that she gets tattoos to feel “the pain that [she needs] to feel”; that she considers Donald Trump a “father figure”; and that she doesn’t “know that I’ll ever be OK with myself.” The reporter, Michael Kruse, told her, “You are responding to trauma in ways … you don’t totally understand,” to which she replied, “Correct,” but then agreed that this is what is “animating” her as well.
Too bad Politico couldn’t hold off publishing for a few more days, because her latest Twitter attack on Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) would have a nice example of this, erm, animation…
If you buried yourself under a rock this weekend (honestly, good for you), then I hate to be the one to inform you that Donald Trump and Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu attacked Iran on Saturday, assassinating Ali Khamenei, the country’s supreme leader for 37 years, and killing at least 100 Iranian schoolkids in the process. Congresswoman Mace used the news to target two of her Muslim opponents in Congress, neither of whom has any ties to Iran.
One of my newsfeeds keeps trying to get me to read a hagiographic story from Politico about Nancy Mace. The excerpt makes it sound like the topic’s that she had a hard life. But before we show her the grace she asks for, she ought to show grace to others, and ask forgiveness for her gutter racism.

“My heart goes out to Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib tonight,” Mace tweeted on Saturday, alongside a news card announcing Khamenei’s death. “Sending them thoughts and prayers.” Omar was born in Somalia and became a U.S. citizen in 2000; Tlaib (D-Mich.) is the only Palestinian-American serving in Congress.
“I hope you aren’t drunk and took your staff’s advice,” Omar shot back, referencing the NYMag article, which revealed that Mace would allegedly ask staffers to bring her bottles of tequila at two in the morning. “Rashida and I don’t know this man and feel confident he didn’t care about us…I pray in his holy month you find peace and respect for your self.”
Mace’s response? “So tell me, what was it like being married to your brother?” And she wonders why she has no friends.
“I pray in his holy month you find peace and respect for your self” is some God-tier Minnesotan passive aggression, could not be prouder of my former congresswoman.

Asked about the exchange on Newsmax on Sunday, Mace said she was “ready to denaturalize [Omar] and deport her to Somalia,” adding her support of the attack in Iran. “Well, I don’t give a damn if it’s Ramadan, I don’t care if Muslims are fasting right now. This was the right time, with the right intel.”
In September, Mace tried to censure Omar for things she never said and strip her of all her committee positions (the vote failed, but by a whisker); in December, Trump called her “garbage”; and in January, Trump again said the country Omar “comes from” is a “disaster” (an hour later, she was attacked). Anything to try and get daddy’s attention, I guess.
