Nancy Mace’s Response to Why She Yelled at TSA Agents?: I Have Fought the Transgender Community
When Maria Bartiromo asked about the airport incident, Mace launched into her latest unhinged rant.

At the airport, it’s easy to lose your marbles when things don’t go your way. As if going through security and customs isn’t overstimulating enough, there’s also the matter of figuring out which direction you need to walk, the stress of dodging a gazillion toddlers, and the regret of packing one too many bags. But what you should never, ever do is verbally berate the airport workers—especially if they’re showing up to work unpaid. That is, unless your name is Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.).
On Wednesday, the Washington Post reported the findings of the police investigation into Mace’s “airport incident”—first reported by Wired—on October 30, which states that she escalated a “minor miscommunication” into a “spectacle.” Per the report, she arrived at Charleston airport to fly to Chicago, but when she wasn’t immediately met with a security escort, she proceeded to have a meltdown.
“I’m sick of your shit. I’m tired of having to wait,” the congresswoman—who calls herself Trump in high heels—reportedly told TSA agents. “I should not have to wait. You guys are always fucking late, this is fucking ridiculous.” She also reportedly repeatedly called them “fucking incompetent” and threatened to contact Charleston International Airport CEO Elliott Summey. (I mean, as a frequent Spirit Airlines flyer, I, too, have lamented over unnecessary delays and confusing airport rules. But inside thoughts, Nancy. Quit being a bully.)
In video footage of the incident, Mace can be seen leaving a car and walking to security, after which she walks up to an airport stanchion and points at a TSA worker and starts admonishing them. And while the video has no sound, you can just hear the carping. She has since called the police report a “political hit job” from state Attorney General Alan Wilson, who’s running against Mace for the gubernatorial nomination.

On Thursday morning, Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo asked Mace—point-blank—what happened on that fateful day. Instead of answering the question, Mace went on a nonsensical rant and talked about her work “fighting the trans community” (aka: she has a weird obsession with trans bathrooms); the death of Charlie Kirk; and how she was recently “aggressively approached” by a “leftist.”
“We have to take our security very seriously, if you’re conservative, if you’re well known, if you have fought the transgender community exponentially like I have, in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s public assassination— the death threats, the amount of political violence, the celebration of the killing of conservatives is deeply disturbing,” she said. She then quoted Elon Musk, who recently claimed he can’t go out in public and said, she too, has been in hiding: “I had an incident just three weeks ago, where I was in public, it was the last time I was in public.”
When Bartiromo pointed out that Mace’s answer was, 1) not an answer and 2) suspiciously defensive about something she says she was falsely accused of doing, Mace said the incident was a “breach of security,” and claimed it was one of hundreds that have happened at Charleston this year alone, and that she has suffered over “two dozen” of them.
BARTIROMO: You say officials falsified a police report. What happened at the airport?
NANCY MACE: Here’s the thing, Maria. We have to take our security very seriously. If you’re conservative, if you’re well known, if you’ve fought the transgender community like I have …

According to the police report, airport workers were “visibly upset” after their encounter with Mace. And while it was probably because they had to deal with a total asshat, it might also have been because TSA workers were—at that point—going more than four weeks without pay in what would become the longest government shutdown in U.S. history.
Mace further told Bartiromo that she’s drafted a lawsuit against the airport and American Airlines, but hasn’t yet filed it. (Jezebel out to her office for comment, and will update if we hear back.)
It’s been a busy few months for Mace; this week alone she’s written an op-ed for the New York Times about how the GOP’s trifecta isn’t using its full potential to make the country worse; introduced legislation to change the “Black Lives Matter Plaza” in Washington, D.C. to the “Charlie Kirk Freedom of Speech Plaza”; and, through it all, continued to campaign for the role of South Carolina governor. (God help us.) Maybe next time… she can just fly the plane herself.
