As any good TV fan will tell you, the promos for AMC’s brilliant drama Mad Men are famously annoying and inscrutable. Usually just a string shots of beautiful people frowning and saying things accusatory things like “You did what?,” the trailers tend to mislead the viewer rather than excite them and it’s damn frustrating (but also admittedly satisfying once you actually WATCH the next episode and are completely surprised).
The Mad Men-style promo has become a trope in and of itself and now Community, a show that has always been great at mocking/celebrating genre, has borrowed the format to promote their upcoming season. Jeff Winger, as it turns out, makes a pretty good Don Draper, although Alison Brie (who stars in both Community and Mad Men) does it better.
