New Promo for TV Show Black-Ish Is, Uh, Very Colorful

Latest

The new ABC comedy, Black-Ish, just dropped some very, very colorful promo art.

They look like a bag of jellybeans.

Black-Ish is about a man named Andre Johnson, played by Anthony Anderson, who must juggle the hilarious haps and mishaps that come with raising his black family in an affluent suburb.

The new poster —as seen on TVLine — is quite a departure from the more subdued, earlier promos, like the one below.

It’s like they just wanted to let you know that the show is about COLOR AKA NOT WHITE PEOPLE.

I want Black-Ish to do well. Tracee Ellis Ross! Laurence Fishburne! Black people starring in a network television show not created by Shonda Rhimes!

Since it so rarely happens, I can understand why networks would be confused about how to market a show about black people to a non-black audience. But here’s a hint: Just treat them like regular people and avoid dressing them up like a box of damn crayons.
