Oprah's Company Denies Rumors She Got O.J. Confession
LatestEarlier today, word spread via The Daily Mail that The Enquirer had reported that O.J. told Oprah he killed his wife and Ron Goldman. (The Enquirer hasn’t put anything online.) Harpo, Oprah’s company, is denying it.
Oprah is long said an O.J. confession is her dream “get.” She told an industry event, “I have a dream of O.J. Simpson confessing to me,” adding, “And I am going to make that happen, people. I don’t just want the interview. I want the interview on the condition that you are ready, Mr. Simpson.”
The Enquirer‘s unnamed source claimed Oprah’s producer had already contacted Simpson in prison and that he had said, “Tell Oprah that yes, I did it. I killed Nicole, but it was in self-defense. She pulled a knife on me and I had to defend myself.” A spokesperson for Harpo was pretty unequivocal: “That’s not true.”
Incidentally, the Enquirer previously claimed in a widely circulated report earlier this year that Simpson had been beaten by a skinhead in prison, which Simpson denied.
