Paralympian, Model and Wonder Woman Aimee Mullins Is Here to Take Your Questions
LatestToday we have Aimee Mullins, the athlete/model/actor/activist extraordinaire, here to talk to you, the readers, in the comments. This is excellent.
After a successful career as a track and field athlete that culminated in three world records at the 1996 Paralympic Games, Mullins, a double-amputee, went on to walk the runway for Alexander McQueen and appear in numerous magazine spreads — including a brand new one in Garage, where Mullins was turned into a paper doll and dressed by various designers (below).
Aimee often speaks publicly about cultural perceptions of disability, women’s rights, and the emerging technologies that will power tomorrow’s prosthetics. Her TED talk (“It’s not fair having 12 pairs of legs”) has been viewed over 1.4 million times. UPDATE: This discussion is now closed. You can see all of Aimee’s responses below. Thanks everyone for your questions, and thank you Aimee for your time.
