Pete Davidson’s Weird Swipe Prompts Equally Weird Walton Goggins Response

“As a 53 yr old, I’m acutely aware that every experience has a shelf life. I appreciate so many of you going on this journey with me," he captioned his Instagram post of photos from Paris.

Pete Davidson’s Weird Swipe Prompts Equally Weird Walton Goggins Response

Last week, Pete Davidson appeared on Theo Von’s podcast, This Past Weekend. Among the topics of conversation was Pedro Pascal‘s meteoric rise to fame and Davidson’s assessment that everyone is now sick of him. (To be fair, Davidson does have some expertise about being suddenly, aggressively in the public eye.)

“Look at Pedro Pascal right now. Two years ago, he’s a hardworking, great actor [then] fucking blows up so fucking hard,” Davidson said. “And then a year later, he’s, like, in everything now…and everyone’s like, ‘Go the fuck away, dude.’ They’re gonna do it with Walton Goggins, [he] will be next.” Let me clear something up: Pedro Pascal, do NOT go away.

Anyway, Goggins saw Davidson’s comments and reacted…not normally. The Emmy-nominated actor took to Instagram to share a screenshot of an article about Davidson’s interview, follow by a series of photos of himself in Paris. The caption is real lengthy (as is Goggins’ typical style).

“I saw this article and had to respond,” Goggins began his post. (Did he? Probably not.) Before continuing, he addressed Davidson directly, writing that while they didn’t know each other, he appreciated the “heads up.”

“As a 53 yr old, I’m acutely aware that every experience has a shelf life. I appreciate so many of you going on this journey with me. I imagine a lot of you (and I don’t blame you) are tired of hearing my homilies. Trust me I’m tired of saying them,” he continued. Somehow, I don’t quite believe that last bit…
Goggins urged fans “not” to click on “something with my name on it,” but if they did, he’s grateful for their continued interest in the goings-on of his career. He continued: “Being included in this headline isn’t a curse, it’s a blessing. How lucky am I that this is even a possibility?!! Way more than a poor kid from GA would ever have the audacity to imagine.” A poor kid from Georgia dreams of one day becoming so popular that a middling comic predicts his fall from grace on a famously dense man’s podcast?? Huh.
“If saying yes in life more than saying no is a crime, then I’m guilty as charged. And If this headline is a possibility or an inevitability …if this is my fate…Well…fuck it. I’m going to enjoy the FUCK OUT OF IT,” Goggins concluded (punctuation choices very much his own). But he didn’t stop there. In the comments section of the post (where Patrick Schwarzenegger, his White Lotus cast mate, wrote, “Keep going brother ❤️”), Goggins replied to multiple people saying things like “love you” and promising to “keep showing up” and not “let you down.”
Listen, I get the compulsion to respond, but I think I would’ve simply would’ve picked up a baguette and kept walking. Surely there are far more important things to weigh in on right now…
