Rebel Wilson and Liam Hemsworth Do Rom-Com Satire in Isn't It Romantic Trailer

Christmas decorations are going up tomorrow and that means—oh yes—time for the trailers that will become the movies watched by millions on Valentine’s Day.

This one doesn’t look so bad, actually? According to this trailer for Isn’t It Romantic, Rebel Wilson plays a woman who has a cosmic accident pursuant a subway mugging which causes her life to become just like a rom-com. Meaning she is ultra wealthy and has a best friend now. The little hairs on the back of my neck can softly sense the Jacobin article taking form like frost upon a movie theater marquee.

That scene with Liam Hemsworth spoofing the classic rom-com cut-to-the-morning scene—where just-pressed sheets and towels bafflingly indicate sex was done here—is respectable. So is the 9-11 call. Also: Priyanka Chopra!

Wilson recently told Ellen DeGeneres that the film is “about a girl who hates romantic comedies, which I did in real life because I didn’t feel like they were real, and then I get flung into a world of romantic comedies and I have two love interests in the film, because why not?”

The film is directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson and will be released on Valentine’s Day.
